Do you think computers are just for nerds? Think again! Have you ever wanted to make your own web site, start an online business, or learn how to touch up your digital photos? If so, you should consider enrolling in Northwest Tech's Web Development and Graphic Design class where you will learn all of those things and a bunch more. The class is taught in a very interactive and visual way so that you will learn how to do things faster.

Kellie Whipple photoKellie Whipple (right) attended Web Development and Graphic Design at Northwest Tech during her junior and seniors years of high school. She earned her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Information Technology from Northern Oklahoma College before graduating from high school due to the credits she received from this class. Kellie is now attending Oklahoma State University. Due to her training at Northwest Tech in addition to her amazing design skills and outstanding work ethic, she was named the Webmaster of the Student Government Association as an OSU freshman! Kellie also has started her own design business, KMW Designs, to help her pay college expenses until she earns her degree in veterinary medicine.

How to Enroll

Certifications

The Web Development and Graphic Design program targets industry recognized certifications from Brainbench, Adobe, Certiport and Certified Internet Webmasters (CIW). Students may take Brainbench exams for free (opposed to the regular fee of approximately $50)!

Student Organizations

All Web Development and Graphic Design students are encouraged to participate in Business Professionals of America. The Business Professionals of America (BPA) mission is "to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills".

BPA offers its members opportunities for professional and leadership development, community service, and competitions to demonstrate their business and computer technology skills. Competitive events include financial services, administrative support, information technology and management/marketing/human resources categories.

The Business Professionals of America (BPA) is open to students enrolled in the Web Development and Graphic Design program as well as the Business and Information Technology program.

College Credit

Students enrolled in the Web Development and Graphic Design program may be able to earn college credit through alliance agreements with Northern Oklahoma College (NOC), OSU-IT, or Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NWOSU). Alliance agreements with NOC allow eligible students to earn up to 42 hours of credit towards an Associate of Applied Science degree in Information Technology.
