Students Receive Foundation Scholarships
Twelve students who attend Northwest Technology Center’s (NWTC) Alva campus were presented with scholarships at NWTC’s Advisory Committee luncheon held Tuesday, January 26, 2010.
Daren Slater, NWTC’s Assistant Superintendent, and Jane Bowen, NWTC’s Superintendent, presented several of the scholarships on behalf of the Northwest Technology Center Foundation Board of Trustees.

Seven students received scholarships which have been endowed by area families and individuals. Elizabeth Kennedy received the Grace Investment Corp. Scholarship. Jacky Sims received the Marthan Carroll Scholarship. The Bud Forell Scholarship was awarded to Samantha Kilmer. Alison Hommertzheim and Melissa Prouty both received the Dr. Dan Shorter Memorial Scholarship. Shay Lehr was the recipient of the Roberts Family Scholarship. The Littlefield-Sargent scholarship was presented to Holly Ford.
Five students received Northwest Technology Center Foundation scholarships including: Susan Parent, Derek Grant, Colby Thrash, Kaylynn Rebarchik and Miranda Rebarchik.

“This year, our foundation will award over $4000 to students on the Alva and the Fairview campuses. We were able to assist many students with scholarships and we are looking forward to seeing the dollar figure increase.” stated Slater.
The NWTC Foundation was revitalized in early 2003. The Northwest Technology Center Foundation Board of Trustees includes Chris Thomas, President, Pat Nida, Secretary/ Treasurer, Garen Ewbank, Pat Warren and Sally Eggleston. Ex-officio members include Jane Bowen, Superintendent, Daren Slater, Assistant Superintendent-Alva and Gerald Harris, Assistant Superintendent-Fairview.
The foundation has two major areas of focus, leadership development and student scholarships. Scholarships may be endowed and named for a minimum donation of $2500.
